Kevin + Kyle
Happy Pride Month! When I saw the inspiration board for this styled shoot - I was so excited! Not only does it feature a LOT of greenery (hi, I'm Natalie and I'm a houseplant addict), but Kevin and Kyle are also a real life couple who were a blast to shoot with! It's been one of my goals this year to seek out more representation with BIPOC and LGBTQ+ people. Because at the end of the day, love is love no matter who you are and I'm here to capture it all.
This was also the first time I was able to shoot at The Denver Photo Collective! The Denver Photo Collective is a beautiful natural light studio located in Lakewood, Colorado. They offer styled sets, educational classes and events at their studio, which is great for new photographers. They also have a beautiful space that would be great for branding sessions and would give a fresh look to any lifestyle or family photo sessions.
Another goal of mine this year is to incorporate more sustainable practices into my business. We all know that weddings are super wasteful so it's important to me to be contributing positively back into the industry that I benefit and make my livelihood from.
Plants are a super sustainable way to include greenery into your wedding in lieu of flowers. Using houseplants instead of florals can alleviate a lot of pressure on the environment and the plus side is you can incorporate them into your own home after the wedding is over.
Rentals were a huge part of the tablescape at this shoot, which are also sustainable addition to your wedding. Not only do they prevent the use of single-use plastics, but they look much better and classier too!
My favorite part of participating in styled shoots is that at its core, it is a bunch of small, local businesses coming together to create art. Supporting local business is so important in giving back to the community that you live in and I'm so happy that I can help to do that by supporting their businesses and supplying high-quality imagery for them to use on their social media, marketing, etc. It's a win-win for everyone over here.♥
